Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden suffer consecutive losses

After starting the campaign on a losing note against Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the opening game of the group stage, Bopanna and Ebden continued their poor run in the second game with a defeat to Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic in straight sets.

On Wednesday, the Indo-Australian pair of Bopanna and Ebden took on Arevalo and Pavic, losing 5-7, 3-6, despite putting up a strong fight in the initial moments of the match.

Marcelo-Mate started off the proceedings, winning the first game of the first set quite convincingly. However, Bopanna and Ebden turned the match exciting, winning three consecutive games, making it 3-1 in their favor.

Nevertheless, the opposition put up an impressive comeback to secure three successive games to make it 3-4. Though there was an exceptional fight from both sides, Ebden's double faults resulted in the Indo-Australian pair losing the first set by 5-7.

The second set turned out to be a one-sided affair as Marcelo-Mate bagged three consecutive games to take a 3-0 lead. Though Bopanna-Ebden was back in the hunt by 3-4, the opposition pair took the match with a perfect hold by Marcelo Arevalo.

The third and final group stage match of the campaign for Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden will be against the Italian pair of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Putz on Thursday, November 14.
