ATP rankings update: Novak Djokovic back as No. 1, Daniil Medvedev moves up to No. 4

Novak Djokovic has moved back to the top spot once again in this week's ATP rankings. He relinquished the No. 1 ranking to Carlos Alcaraz after the teenager won the Indian Wells Masters.

The Spaniard needed to win the Miami Open to stay atop the rankings, but lost in the semifinals. Djokovic is now back on top, despite not competing in the tournament due to the vaccine mandate in the US. The Serb's rise has pushed Alcaraz down a spot to No. 2.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is steady at No. 3, while Miami Open champion Daniil Medvedev has moved up by a place to No. 4. The Russian has been on a roll over the past few weeks, that saw him winning four titles and reaching the final of the Indian Wells Masters.

Casper Ruud's poor run of form continued at the Miami Open, where he lost in the third round. He has slipped to No. 5 in this week's ATP rankings. Andrey Rublev and Felix Auger-Aliassime have swapped places with each other to be ranked No. 6 and No. 7, respectively.

Holger Rune is static at No. 8, while Jannik Sinner's runner-up finish in Miami has pushed him back into the top 10 at No. 9. Taylor Fritz rounds out the top 10.

Just outside the elite bracket, Karen Khachanov is at No. 11. The Russian has climbed up five spots thanks to a semifinal showing in Miami. Rafael Nadal's absence from the tour continues to affect his ranking as he has slipped to No. 14 this week.

Christopher Eubanks' fairytale run at the Miami Open has helped the American make his long-awaited top 100 debut in the ATP rankings. He came through the qualifying rounds and then defeated Denis Kudla, Borna Coric, Gregoire Barrere and Adrian Mannarino to make the last eight.

Eubanks then lost to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev in his first-ever Masters 1000 quarterfinal. Nevertheless, it was an incredible week for the 26-year-old. He has zoomed up 34 spots to No. 85 in this week's ATP rankings, a new career milestone for him.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (No. 24), Tallon Griekspoor (No. 35), Emil Ruusuvuori (No. 37), Nuno Borges (No. 65), Max Purcell (No. 86) and Luca Van Ashe (No. 91) are the other players to reach new career highs this week.
