ATP Rankings update: Vienna and Basel champions Jack Draper, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard surge to new highs, Jannik Sinner continues to lead the list

The next generation of players have made quite a splash in this week's ATP rankings. Leading the charge is Jack Draper, who won the biggest title of his career at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, an ATP 500 tournament. He beat Karen Khachanov 6-4, 7-5 in the final, and snapped his rival's eight-match winning streak as well.

Draper moved up three spots to a new career high of No. 15. He has been in great form over the last few weeks, which all started with his semifinal run at the US Open, his first at a Major as well. With Andy Murray retiring this year, Britain seems to have found his successor in the form of the 22-year-old.

French youngster Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard won this week's other ATP 500 tournament in Basel, the Swiss Indoors. He defeated Ben Shelton 6-4, 7-6 (4) to nab the biggest title of his career as well. He jumped 19 places to a new career peak of No. 31 in this week's ATP rankings and is likely to be seeded at next year's Australian Open.

Czech teen Jakub Mensik is another player to reach a new career milestone this week. While his time in Vienna came to an end in the quarterfinals, it still helped him move up three spots to No. 48 for his top 50 debut. Lastly, 23-year-old Otto Virtanen won a Challenger event over the weekend to crack the top 100 for the first time at No. 96.

There's no movement in the upper region of the ATP rankings this week. Jannik Sinner remains comfortably perched atop the summit, having already clinched the year-end No. 1 ranking. He isn't in any danger of being dislodged from his position until the end of next year's Australian Open at the very least.

Carlos Alcaraz follows the Italian at No. 2. There's a difference of 4,000 points between them. For the Spaniard to mount any challenge for the top ranking next season, he must lay the groundwork for the same by winning this week's Paris Masters. Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic remain steady at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively.

Dannil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz, Andrey Rublev, and Casper Ruud are ranked No. 5-8 this week. Alex de Minaur had an opportunity to overtake Grigor Dimitrov had he made the final in Vienna but he lost in the semifinals. Thus, he remains a non-mover at No. 10, while the Bulgarian is ahead of him by 15 points at No. 9.
