ATX Open 2023: Women's draw, schedule, players, prize money breakdown and more
The inaugural edition of the ATX Open will be held from February 27 to March 5, 2023. It is one of five tournaments taking place across the ATP and WTA tours in a busy week of tennis.
Magda Linette leads the draw as the top seed. She's followed by Zhang Shuai, Anastasia Potapova and Danielle Collins. Sloane Stephens, Lauren Davis and Alycia Parks are among the other notable players in the mix.
Emma Raducanu was set to compete for the first time since the Australian Open, but a bout of tonsillitis forced her to withdraw. Venus Williams was also in the fray, but an injury sustained at the start of the year has derailed her season.
With a solid line-up of top 50 players, including veterans and young talents, the ATX Open features a competitive draw. Here's all the necessary information about the tournament:
What is the ATX Open?
It is a brand new addition to the WTA tour. After hosting the WTA Finals last year, the state of Texas has managed to snag yet another tournament. It was officially announced as part of the women's circuit in November 2022.
The tournament will be played on outdoor hardcourts. 32 singles players are set to contest it, along with 16 teams in doubles. The Covert Auto Group is the main sponsor of the event.
Venue
The ATX Open will be held at the Westwood Country Club in Austin, Texas, USA.
Players
Magda Linette, Anastasia Potapova, Sloane Stephens and Alycia Parks have landed in the top half of the draw. Linette will begin her quest for a maiden title of the season against Varvara Gracheva.
Potapova is up against Elizabeth Mandlik, while Stephens faces fellow American Taylor Townsend. Parks will square off against Mirjam Bjorklund in her opener as she targets her second title of the year.
Zhang Shuai headlines the bottom half of the draw, along with Danielle Collins, Lauren Davis and Marta Kostyuk. The Chinese will take on Harriet Dart in her opening round contest.
Collins will need to get past Magdalena Frech to make it to the second round. Davis will battle Anna Kalinskaya in her first-round match, while Kostyuk faces a challenge from Dalma Galfi.

Schedule
The first-round matches will begin on Monday, February 27, and will conclude the next day. The second-round matches also go on for a couple of days after that. The quarterfinals are set for Friday, March 3. The semifinals will take place on Saturday, with the singles and doubles finals scheduled for Sunday, March 5.
