Australian Open 2024 Live Streaming: How to watch the tournament live in India?
The Australian Open 2024 is all set to get underway on Sunday, January 14. For the first time, the hard-court tournament at the Melbourne Park will take place for 15 days after the authorities took steps to curb late night finishes.
Iga Swiatek and Novak Djokovic will start the tournament as the top seeds in the women’s and men’s draw. Djokovic and Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka are the defending champions. Last year, Sabalenka came back from a set down to beat Elena Rybakina and win her maiden Grand Slam title.
Rafael Nadal was supposed to make his comeback in Grand Slams after a gap of 12 months, but he pulled out of the tournament due to an injury concern.
The championship will also witness the likes of Naomi Osaka and Angelique Kerber, who both made their comebacks recently after becoming mothers. The 26-year-old Osaka is a two-time winner at the Australian Open and returned to playing competitive tennis at the Brisbane International.
The focus will also be on the likes of Coco Gauff, Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud, Elina Svitolina, Carlos Alcaraz, Marketa Vondrousova and many others. Gauff will be high on confidence after winning the US Open last year and the ASB Classic earlier this month in Auckland.
Among Indians, Sumit Nagal will be India’s only hope in the men’s singles. On Friday, he defeated Alex Molcan in straight sets in the final qualifying round. Rohan Bopanna will enter the men’s doubles as the second seed along with Matthew Ebden.
Ankita Raina failed to make her way into the main draw of the women’s singles after losing her second-round match in the qualifiers.
