Iga Swiatek "super nice and humble", Carlos Alcaraz my favourite ATP player: Barbora Krejcikova
Barbora Krejcikova heaped praise on current World No. 1s Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz during a recent Q and A session with her fans on Instagram.
Krejcikova and Swiatek have locked horns on four occasions, with their head-to-head currently tied at 2-2. The Czech has won their last two meetings, the most recent of which came in the final of the 2023 Dubai Tennis Championships.
Krejcikova and Swiatek have a lot of mutual respect, and the Czech had some kind words about her colleague during the Q and A session on Instagram. When a fan asked the 2021 French Open how Swiatek was as a person, she replied that the Pole was extremely nice and humble.
"Super nice and humble girl," Krejcikova answered.
Another fan asked Krejcikova about her favorite ATP player from the current generation. The Czech named World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz because of his personality and demeanor at just 19 years of age rather than just his tennis, which she called "unbelievable".
"I like @carlitosalcaraz but not because of his tennis (even though it's unbelievable) but because of personality and behavior as a 19 year-old teenager," Krejcikova answered.
Barbora Krejcikova calls Paula Badosa one of her best friends on tour
Barbora Krejcikova was also asked to name her best friends on tour. The 27-year-old replied that besides her doubles partner Katerina Siniakova, she spoke the most with Paula Badosa.
"I think the person I talk the most to besides my doubles partner Katerina is @paulabadosa," Krejcikova answered.
Badosa and Krejcikova have locked horns thrice so far, with the Spaniard winning all of those matches. The last meeting between the two came in the final of the 2022 Sydney International, with Badosa winning 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(4).
When asked to name some of the other sporting icons in Czech Republic, Krejcikova mentioned legendary Olympic athlete Emil Zatopek and goalkeeper Petr Cech as well as tennis stars Martina Navratilova and Jana Novotna.
"Emil Zatopek, Vera Caslavska, Jarmila Kratochvilova, Martina Navratilova, Jaromir Jagr, Petr Cech and many other Czech legends," Krejcikova answered.
Krejcikova lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round of the Miami Open and will next play in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifying rounds. The Czech Republic will be up against Ukraine as they look to book their spot in the finals, which will take place later this year.
