Bianca Andreescu makes good start to recovery from Miami Open injury
Bianca Andreescu shared the welcome news of her recovery process getting off to a good start with some rehab and strength training after the terrible injury she suffered at the 2023 Miami Open.
Andreescu took on Ekaterina Alexandrova in the fourth round of the Miami Open. After losing the first set 6-7(0), the Canadian was leading 2-0 in the second set when she rolled her ankle and collapsed to the ground in pain. She was unable to stand and had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair.
On March 30, Andreescu shared an injury update that confirmed she had torn two ligaments in her left ankle. She, however, remains optimistic about an imminent return to the tour with the right rehab and recovery process.
"Results show that I have torn 2 ligaments in my left ankle. It's tough to say exactly how long it will take, but let's say it could've been much worse!! I'm going to take it day by day, and I am optimistic that with the right work, rehab and preparation, I'll be back on court soon. Rehab process has already started and will continue to give updates. Love you all," Bianca Andreescu tweeted.
Andreescu has since begun to make strides in her recovery process. The 22-year shared a video of herself taking her dog, Coco, out for a walk while wearing an ankle brace. The clip also showed her taking part in various strength training exercises.
"WE OUTSIDE!! Rehabbing and strengthening off to a good start," Andreescu captioned the post.
