Bianca Andreescu reacts to Aryna Sabalenka, Paula Badosa, herself and others divulging favorite cartoons as a kid
Bianca Andreescu had a crack-up at players on both the WTA and ATP tours, including Aryna Sabalenka, Paula Badosa and herself, divulging their favorite cartoon shows as children.
Andreescu has been out of action since suffering a horrible ankle injury in the fourth round of the 2023 Miami Open. During her match against Ekaterina Alexandrova, the Canadian rolled her ankle unexpectedly, leaving her in extreme pain. She later had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair.
Following the incident, Andreescu has embarked on her road to recovery. With no competitive matches in the near future, the Canadian is finding ways to keep herself entertained. She recently reacted to a video on social media where players from both the tours revealed their favorite cartoon shows growing up.
The video posted by the US Open saw Andreescu, Daniil Medvedev, Coco Gauff, Paula Badosa, Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz rooting for 'SpongeBob SquarePants,' while Casper Ruud, Aryna Sabalenka and Maria Sakkari picked 'Tom and Jerry.'
Andreescu's road to recovery, meanwhile, has gotten off to a good start with the Canadian revealing about her rehab and strengthening programs.
Taking to social media, Andreescu confirmed that she had torn two ligaments in her left ankle. However, the World No. 27 expressed optimism about a speedy return to the tour with the right work.
"Results show that I have torn 2 ligaments in my left ankle. It's tough to say exactly how long it will take, but let's say it could've been much worse!!," she wrote on Twitter. "I'm going to take it day by day, and I am optimistic that with the right work, rehab and preparation, I'll be back on court soon. Rehab process has already started and will continue to give updates."
Bianca Andreescu felt the 'worst pain ever' after her injury at the Miami Open
Bianca Andreescu recently revealed that she experienced the 'worst pain' of her life after rolling her ankles at the Miami Open.
"Woke up with a brace on my foot… anyone know what happened? On a serious note tho… that was the worst pain I’ve ever felt… praying for nothing serious. Still waiting on official results. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and kind words, doesn’t go unnoticed," she wrote in a tweet.
It was evident that the Canadian was in much agony as she cried and yelled out soon after falling to the ground. With Bianca Andreescu held inside the realms of recovery, a quick return to the tour remains a distant hope for her.
