Billie Jean King proudly endorses Kamala Harris for US President, joins WNBA legend Candace Parker & other athletes in support of Democrat

Three weeks away from the US presidential elections, Billie Jean King reiterated her support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. The American tennis icon also co-chairs the "Athletes for Harris" campaign along with WNBA legend Candace Parker.

The U.S. presidential elections are set for November 5, 2024, with Republican nominee Donald Trump, Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, and other candidates in the race. Several sports stars have endorsed their preferred candidates, including Billie Jean King who publicly supported Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

In a video posted on X, King highlighted why she’s backing the current Vice President, tying her endorsement to sports. She also co-chairs the "Athletes for Harris" campaign alongside NBA Hall of Famer Earvin "Magic" Johnson and seven-time WNBA all-star Candace Parker. King captioned the post:

"We are exactly 3 weeks away from perhaps the most consequential election in U.S. history. It cannot be stated strongly enough: your vote in this election matters. I'm casting my vote for @KamalaHarris for President and @Tim_Walz for Vice President. I hope you'll join me."

The news about the "Athletes for Harris" campaign was released in late September. In a statement, the campaign emphasized the significant influence athletes hold over key voter groups.

"Athletes are among the most trusted voices for key voting blocs, especially young men, making them uniquely qualified campaigners for Vice President Harris and Governor (Tim) Walz’s campaign," the statement read. "Sporting events and games are also key moments that draw in large and politically diverse audiences, audiences that are increasing their reach with Gen Z and younger men."

The rest of the co-chairs on the campaign include two NBA coaches, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr and Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers.

It also includes the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team Dawn Staley, Paralympic swimmer Ali Truwit, two-time women's soccer World Cup winner Ali Krieger, 12-time NBA all-star Chris Paul, and Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Thomas Booker.
