"Can barely get out of bed" - Frances Tiafoe's girlfriend Ayan Broomfield discloses health struggle after visiting Tokyo to support him at Japan Open 

Frances Tiafoe's girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, recently visited Tokyo to support the American during his Japan Open campaign. Amidst this, she opened up about being sick and shared an update on her social media.

Tiafoe's first match of the Japan Open was against fellow American, Brandon Nakashima, on September 26 at the Kinoshita Group Arena. However, Tiafoe faced an early exit at the ATP 500 event, losing out to Nakashima 7-5, 6-3.

Amidst this, Tiafoe's girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield who arrived in Tokyo to cheer on her boyfriend, disclosed that she fell sick during the journey. The Canadian shared an update about her health on her Instagram stories, claiming that she hadn't been able to get out of bed for 48 hours.

"Put a finger down if you travel to your favorite city and hours into the trip you get sick and can barely get out of bed for 48 hours," Broomfield wrote.

Following this, she shared another story with an image of a scenic view of Japan and wrote:

"Barely made it out to experience + capture any of this magical city but the room service/delivery was exceptional😂"

Ahead of the Japan Open, Frances Tiafoe competed at the US Open where he made it to his second Grand Slam semifinal, losing to compatriot Taylor Fritz in a grueling five-setter.

Frances Tiafoe had a terrific showdown against Ben Shelton in the third round of the 2024 US Open. Seeded 20th at the New York Slam, Tiafoe lost the first set 4-6 but fought back hard to clinch the match 4-6,7-5,6-7(5),6-4,6-3.

Ayan Broomfield, who was in attendance during the game, was seen teary-eyed as she soaked in the celebratory emotions following Tiafoe's win.

Frances Tiafoe reached the semifinals of the US Open, where he faced off Taylor Fritz on September 7 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. However, the latter managed to defeat Tiafoe 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, preventing Tiafoe from making it to his maiden Grand Slam final.

After the US Open, Tiafoe represented Team World at the Laver Cup, where he defeated Daniil Medvedev but lost to Alexander Zverev in the singles matchup.
