"Can my boyfriend see into the future?" - Coco Gauff reveals hilarious details about getting name-dropped on Tyler, The Creator's 'Thought I Was Dead'

Coco Gauff achieved a major feat off the court recently, getting a mention on Tyler, The Creator's new track 'Though I Was Dead' on the 'Chromokopia' album. The American youngster has now revealed new information about her equation with the rapper and how her boyfriend even correctly predicted she was going to get a mention on the track.

Speaking at her pre-tournament press conference at the WTA Finals, Gauff revealed that she was congratulated by Tyler after she won the China Open this year, one of her biggest wins of 2024. The 20-year-old confessed that she was not expecting the gesture, as previously she had not interacted much with the rapper except for seeing him perform in live concerts a few times before.

"That was crazy. I mean, I've been a fan of Tyler since I was 14 years old. I saw him perform live when I was 15 for the first time. I went to his music festival last year. I have tickets to go again this year. Hopefully he performs that song. It would be pretty cool to see that live."
"That was really cool. I was not expecting it. It was crazy, because, like, he DM'd me congratulations over China Open. We never talked or anything before. He liked my photo or something when I won US Open," Coco Gauff said.

Then, World No. 3 revealed that after she got the congratulations message from Tyler, her boyfriend told her that he was going to name-drop her in a song. At the time, Gauff shrugged it off, thinking that it would be 'insane' if it happened.

Just three weeks later, however, the song released with the Gauff mention, leading to the former US Open champ even jokingly wondering if her boyfriend was capable of predicting the future.

"Then my boyfriend is like, Watch, he's going to drop you in a song. I was like, Yeah, that would be insane. That's never going to happen. Three weeks later it happened. I was like, Can he see into the future or what?"

Coco Gauff also spoke in the press conference about celebrating Halloween this year, revealing that she had to take pictures with her costume several days earlier as she had to leave for Saudi Arabia. The American and her brother Cameron dressed up as Marvel superhero duo Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, delighting tennis fans on social media.

Gauff regretted the fact that the tournament coincided with Halloween, as she could only wear one costume this year because of time constraints.

"It's number one. It's number one. This is the first year in a while I've only done one costume. Yeah, I was just so busy. I don't have as much time as everybody else. I had to take the pictures a week and a half, two weeks in advance because I'm here, yeah,"

She added:

"Best believe, if I really had it to the 31st, I would have more costumes."

At the WTA Finals, Gauff has been drawn in the same group as Iga Swiatek, Jessica Pegula, and Barbora Krejcikova.
