"Can't wait" - Coco Gauff fondly looks back on 'fun' Freddy Krueger transformation as she shares her excitement for Halloween amid China Open 2024

Coco Gauff reminisced about her transformation into Freddy Krueger from the 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' movie franchise for last year's Halloween. As she gears up for her campaign at the 2024 China Open, the American also shared her eagerness for the upcoming Halloween festivities.

Gauff has touched down in Beijing ahead of the WTA 1000 event and has taken the opportunity to explore the sights alongside her mother Candi. The 20-year-old chronicled their adventures at the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City, joking about her mom "messing up" her photos.

Ahead of her opening match at the China Open, the World No. 6 took to social media and reminisced about her "fun" transformation into the famous movie villain Freddy Krueger. Although Halloween is over a month away, the American expressed her excitement for getting into the spirit of the spooky holiday once again.

"I can't wait for halloween. Freddy was fun," she posted on her Instagram story.

During a press conference at the 2023 WTA Finals, Coco Gauff opened up about her love for Halloween, joking that she would dress up in costumes year-round if she could.

"I've always been passionate about Halloween since I was a kid. I always loved to dress up. I would do it, like, year-round. I've always talked about wanting to go to Cosplay, the conventions and all of that," she said.

The 20-year-old also disclosed that her Freddy Krueger look was thrown together last minute, inspired by her brother's decision to dress up as Chucky. Gauff then had the idea for their entire family to go as fictional serial killers, sharing a glimpse of their outfits on social media.

"Then Freddy Krueger was obviously last minute. My brother wanted to be Chucky for Halloween. I said, We should all be fictional serial killers, and that's what we did," she added.

Coco Gauff joins Carlos Alcaraz in donning traditional Chinese attire during fun outing before China Open

Although Halloween is still a little way off, Coco Gauff got the chance to indulge her love for dressing up by joining Carlos Alcaraz in donning a traditional Chinese outfit and exploring the local culture at the Forbidden City.

"We're here at the Forbidden City learning about the culture here, and I'm here with Carlos, and we have our traditional clothing on, and we're super excited to be here," Gauff said.

Gauff and Alcaraz are gearing up to commence their campaigns in Beijing, battling it out for the WTA 1000 and ATP 500 titles, respectively. Entering the tournament as the second seed, the Spaniard will take on Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round.

Meanwhile, No. 4 seed Coco Gauff will square off against Clara Burel in the second round following a first-round bye. The American emerged victorious in their sole previous encounter at this year's Indian Wells Open, claiming a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) win over Burel.
