Tennis fans were left in awe after witnessing Carlos Alcaraz's remarkable shot-making skills at the 2024 ATP Finals, despite the fact that he is battling illness. Last year, the Spaniard had made it to the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic

This year, Alcaraz is competing in the singles event at the ATP Finals alongside players such as Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, and Alex de Minaur. He has been placed in the John Newcombe Group, along with Zverev, Ruud, and Rublev.

Carlos Alcaraz kicked off his campaign at the season-ending tournament with a loss to Casper Ruud, falling 1–6, 5–7 in the first group stage match. However, he made a strong comeback by defeating Andrey Rublev 6–3, 7–6(8) in the second group stage match, securing his spot in the next round.

During his matches against Ruud and Rublev, Alcaraz was seen sporting a fuchsia pink nasal strip because of the cold he has been battling. Despite his illness, the Spaniard impressed fans with his exceptional shot-making abilities

Subsequently, fans took to social media to express their admiration for Alcaraz's resilience and talent.

One fan stated that Carlos Alcaraz is "built different" and that he stands out from other players due to his ability to deliver remarkable performances even while dealing with health issues.

Another fan noted that the former World No.1 player had regained his form after the initial loss to Casper Ruud.

Carlos Alcaraz will face Alexander Zverev in the third group stage match at ATP Finals 2024

Carlos Alcaraz will take on Alexander Zverev in his third group stage match at the 2024 ATP Finals.

Zverev has participated in only one match so far in this season-ending tournament. He kicked off his campaign by defeating Andrey Rublev with a score of 6–4, 6–4 in the first group stage match. He will next compete against Casper Ruud before facing Alcaraz.

Alcaraz and Zverev have faced each other 10 times on the ATP tour, with each player having won five matches. Their most recent encounter was the final of the 2024 French Open, where the Spaniard emerged victorious with a score of 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 .
