Carlos Alcaraz will open his 2024 China Open campaign with an exciting first-round encounter against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The duo have never played each other before.

Alcaraz is currently playing at the 2024 China Open in Beijing. A part of the ATP 500 series, the hardcourt tournament is played annually in the second half of the season during the Asian swing.
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner lifted the trophy last year, beating Daniil Medvedev in the summit clash. Other former champions of the tournament include Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Andy Roddick.

Alcaraz will take on World No. 51 Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in his opening match at the 2024 China Open.
The lanky Frenchman has made a name for himself in recent months, winning his first Tour-level title on home soil at the Lyon Open. Having received a wildcard into the main draw, he had beaten the likes of Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Alexander Bublik en route.
Mpetshi Perricard backed his performance up at Wimbledon, making the second week on his debut. He scored big wins over the likes of Sebastian Korda and Emil Ruusuvuori before coming up short against Lorenzo Musetti in the fourth round.
He is currently sitting just outside the top-50 and a has a season's win-loss of 10-8.
