The men's singles semi-final at the 2024 Paris Olympics is slated to take place between second seed Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and thirteenth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada. This is Aliassime's second Olympics appearance and a maiden appearance for Alcaraz.
Aliassime has put up a decent showing at the Olympics, defeating some highly-seeded players on his way to the semi-final. The Canadian started his campaign with two dominant victories over Marcos Giron of the USA and Maximilian Marterer of Germany in the first two rounds. Aliassime then defeated fourth-seeded Daniil Medvedev in the third round and then backed it up by defeating sixth-seeded Casper Ruud in the quarter-final in a three-set battle.
Alcaraz on the other hand, has been sailing smoothly and is yet to drop a set at the Olympics. He defeated Hady Habib, Tallon Griekspoor, and Roman Safiullin in the first three rounds. Alcaraz met his first seeded Opponent Tommy Paul in the Quarter-Final. However, the second seed secured an impressive straight-set victory over the American.
The two players are tied 3-3 on head-to-head but Alcaraz defeated Aliassime at Roland Garros a few months back, at this year's French Open. Overall the Canadian has a 55% win ratio at Roland Garros, whereas the Spnairad is the current French Open champion, with an 86% win ratio.
