Caroline Garcia and boyfriend Borja Duran announce their engagement
French tennis player Caroline Garcia has announced her engagement to boyfriend Borja Duran. In response, the 30-year-old has received congratulatory messages from several fellow players.
Garcia participated in the recently-concluded French Open with high hopes. The Frenchwoman got the better of Eva Lys in three sets in the first round. However, her run was cut short by Sofia Kenin who registered a 6-3, 6-3 win over Garcia in the second round.
A few days after her exit from Roland-Garros 2024, Garcia and her boyfriend jointly announced their engagement on Instagram. Their post consists of three images: a picture of the happy couple first, and Garcia flaunting her engagement ring in the next two. They captioned the post:
"Mr. and Mrs. coming soon"
Recently retired French player Alize Cornet, renowned coach Patrick Mouratoglou, and players Daria Saville, Monica Puig and Shelby Rogers are some of the names who congratulated the couple in their comments on the post.
The timeline of the relationship between Garcia and Duran is not known. Duran is a co-founder and host of the podcast 'Tennis Insider Club' along with Garcia.
Caroline Garcia is excited to experience the Olympic Games in her home country
The Olympic Games this year will be held in Paris, France. This means the iconic clay court will make a comeback after the grass-court season.
Caroline Garcia faced an early exit at both the previous Olympics (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020). She recently said in an interview with Olympics.com:
"The first two on the experience scale, they are all at the bottom. I want to go all the way and get a medal... I want to live the experience, to give my all, to say to myself at the end of the Olympiad, 'I gave everything, I did my best.'
"[If] I win a medal, great! Or... I did not win a medal, but I had a good time and I have a lifelong memory that I will tell my children, my grandchildren."
Apart from hoping to come back to Paris in July and do well in front of her home crowd, Caroline Garcia is also looking forward to the grass court season.
After her 2024 French Open loss to Sofia Kenin, Garcia had taken to X to inform her followers about her withdrawal from the doubles event at the tournament due to a shoulder injury.
