Casper Ruud's sister Charlotte celebrates Norwegian's ATP Finals 2024 qualification

Casper Ruud has qualified for the 2024 ATP Finals and is all set to make his third appearance at the tournament this year. His younger sister, Charlotte, was over the moon after his qualification and celebrated the achievement on social media.

Ruud cut the 2024 ATP Finals after Novak Djokovic announced his decision to withdraw from the tournament due to injury. Djokovic has played just one event since the US Open and said he would only prioritize Grand Slams from now on. The Serb's decision eased the pressure on Ruud, Andrey Rublev, and Alex de Minaur, who had signed up to play ATP 250 events a week before the ATP Finals to qualify for the tournament.

Ruud was in danger of falling out of contention for the 2024 ATP Finals after a dismal last few months on tour, but his exploits earlier in the season helped him stay in the sixth spot in the race for the Finals list. The former World No. 2's younger sister Charlotte celebrated her brother's qualification for the year-end championship and took to Instagram to share ATP's official poster for him.

Casper Ruud finished runner-up at the ATP 250 Los Cabos Open and ATP 500 Acapulco Open and reached the quarterfinals at the Indian Wells Masters. The 25-year-old then switched gears during the European clay court swing. The Norwegian reached his first Masters 1000 final in two years at the Monte Carlo after beating the likes of Novak Djokovic and Hubert Hurkacz.

Ruud came up short against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the title contest. He avenged the loss a week later in the final of the ATP 500 Barcelona Open, where he defeated Tsitsipas to pick up his first title of the year.

Another trophy came soon after as Ruud bettered Tomas Machac in the ATP 250 Geneva Open title contest. The Norwegian continued his strong form at Roland Garros, where he had finished runner-up the last two years. He reached the semifinals in Paris for the third consecutive year after Djokovic's quarterfinal withdrawal but lost to Alexander Zverev.

Since leaving the French capital, Casper Ruud has suffered immensely on court. He won just one match in four Masters 1000 tournaments (Montreal, Cincinnati, Shanghai, and Paris) and won consecutive matches once, at the US Open where he reached the fourth round.
