Coco Gauff adorns cover of Wheaties - 'The Breakfast of Champions' ahead of US Open 2024, months after Billie Jean King's celebration
Coco Gauff has made it to the box covers of American breakfast cereal brand Wheaties. The brand, which markets itself as 'The Breakfast of Champions', also featured Billie Jean King on their boxes a few months ago.
20-year-old Gauff has been making moves in the commercial world with multiple partnerships being announced ahead of her title defense at the 2024 US Open. Following the announcements of her American Eagle collection and the second New Balance signature shoe, she has collaborated with Wheaties.
The breakfast cereal brand announced that Gauff will feature on a limited number of box covers. She has been labeled a 'dreamer', 'an icon', and a 'champion' by Wheaties.
American tennis icon Billie Jean King also featured on the Wheaties cover a few months ago. Gauff has followed in the footsteps of the 12-time Grand Slam singles champion.
Recently, New Balance also announced the release of the second iteration of Gauff's signature shoe. The New Balance CG2 sneakers will be released on August 21. The CG1 was released in the summer of 2022. Notably, Gauff has been signed with New Balance since she was 14.
The 2023 US Open winner also collaborated with American Eagle and the clothing line will feature a denim jacket emblazoned with Gauff's popular quote - 'Thank you to the people who didn't believe in me'.
Coco Gauff suffers early exit at Cincinnati Open 2024 ahead of US Open title defense
In Cincinnati, Coco Gauff participated in her second event of the North American hard court swing following an early exit in Canada. She was playing at the Paris Olympics weeks ago on the Roland Garros clay and did not expect much from her Cincinnati Open campaign.
Gauff, who was the defending champion at the WTA 1000 event, received a bye in the first round and lost to Yulia Putintseva in the second round.
The 20-year-old suffered a big blow before the US Open as she dropped to the World No. 3 spot after earning the World No. 2 ranking in June. Aryna Sabalenka reoccupied the second spot after her triumph in Cincinnati.
Following her loss to Putintseva, Gauff told the WTA Tour:
“I feel like I have to work on consistency, overall... [I will] probably go home and try to reset... Obviously, I have a lot coming up soon with the US Open, so I think just trying to reset and be ready for that.”
Gauff will be the third seed in the women's singles event at the 2024 US Open. The main draw of the final Grand Slam of the year is scheduled to begin on August 26.
