Coco Gauff chills after Australian Open 1R win with relaxed cinema visit

Coco Gauff began her 2025 Australian Open campaign emphatically at the Rod Laver Arena today with a straight-sets 6-3, 6-3 win over fellow American Sofia Kenin in the first round. With a two-day break until her second-round match against Jodie Burrage, she visited a cinema in Melbourne for the movie "Mufasa - The Lion King".

Seeded third at the Australian Open, Gauff posted a snap on her Instagram story about how she always chooses to watch a movie if she has an early match at tournaments, writing:

“Lol one thing about me if I play first on I will most likely be going to a movie after the match. This was good! I enjoyed it.”

Coco Gauff is widely considered to be among the most stylish tennis players on the circuit and she served a reminder of that yet again on Monday as she opted for an elegant outfit designed by New Balance. She talked about the inspiration behind the design in her on-court interview:

"This outfit, I'm a huge Marvel fan and a lot of the female superheroes have cool cutouts on their outfits, so that's what I wanted to do. New Balance has great designers."
"It's actually kind of a pain to get into because it is a bodysuit, so I have to put the bottom part on first and pull it over my head, so it's kind of struggle. If you can't hold your bladder, it's also not a good idea, but you have to sacrifice for fashion. Then the skirt, I like to wear cargo pants, but obviously I'm not going to play tennis in pants, so we make like a cargo skirt," she added.

The 20-year-old American also shared that basketball sneakers inspired the white and green shoes complementing her outfit.
