Coco Gauff leans on God for emotional support as Donald Trump wins US presidential elections, urges fans to turn towards prayer
Like millions of American citizes, Coco Gauff has been left shocked by the results of the 2024 US presidential elections, where Donald Trump beat Kamala Harris to win a second term in office. To help herself and her fans get through these tough times, the American youngster has turned towards God for help and has urged her followers to do the same.
While the election between Harris and Trump was expected to be a razor-thin contest, the final results from the polls on November 5 has sent shock waves across the world. Trump won 277 electoral votes, securing the minumum number of 270 needed for a presidency term. Harris, who was projected to win by several exit polls, is on just 224 electoral votes, a far cry from the 303 won by her predecessor and current Democrat President Joe Biden in 2020.
With social media abuzz with discussion of the election results, Gauff took to Instagram to share her thoughts. Sharing a post that suggested to people that they 'replace anxiety with prayer,' the World No. 3 added a message of her own, writing:
"Allow yourself to feel how you feel during tough times... especially today. Just lean on God with your concerns. He is the highest power. Remember that."
Coco Gauff has been incredibly vocal in getting people to vote in this election, urging that it was an important civic duty to uphold during a crucial time for her home country.
"I voted. I posted content trying to encourage people to vote. It's definitely on my mind. It's a tough time for our country, a crucial time for our country right now. All I can do is encourage people, especially young people, to vote and use their voice. Especially in my generation, there's a lot of people who don't see the power of voting. For me, I do," Gauff said in a recent interview for The National.
Even on Tuesday, the American continued rallying people to vote, taking to social media throughout the evening during the last stage of the polls to spread awareness about the importance of voting properly.

Unfortunately, Coco Gauff hasn't been able to be in the US during the elections. Instead, the American is in Saudi Arabia, where she's taking part in the year-end WTA Finals.
In her opening two group stage encounters, Gauff has beaten Jessica Pegula and Iga Swiatek, securing a place in the semifinals. Up next, she will face Barbora Krejcikova in the final group match, followed by a knockout clash against Aryna Sabalenka or Zheng Qinwen.
