Coco Gauff's friend Jalen Sera celebrates American's maiden WTA Finals 2024 win with two-word reaction
Coco Gauff ended her 2024 season in perfect fashion by winning her maiden title at the WTA Finals in Riyadh on November 9. The American's triumph was celebrated by her close friend, Jalen Sera, who came up with a two-word reaction on social media.
Gauff faced Zheng Qinwen in the title contest of the 2024 WTA Finals. Two of the youngest stars on the WTA Tour engaged in a high-voltage battle in which Gauff came back from a deficit multiple times to take home the title. Zheng mustered a one-set advantage and served for the match 5-4 in the second set.
However, the American's resilience was on full display as she salvaged the second set to equalize the scoreline. Zheng recouped quickly in the third set and had another opportunity to close the match while serving at 5-4. However, she was denied once again as Gauff took the match into a tiebreaker and emerged victorious 3-6, 6-5, 7-6 (2).
Gauff was seeded third at the 2024 WTA Finals and defeated Jessica Pegula and Iga Swiatek to reach the knockout stages. She bettered top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals before beating Zheng Qinwen in the final. Her triumph in Riyadh was celebrated by the tennis community and beyond.
Her close friend, Jalen Sera, took to Instagram to share a poster of Gauff's WTA Finals win and called her the "IT GIRL."
Sera is an Atalanta-based guitarist and often interacts with Gauff on social media. The duo frequently leave comments on each other's Instagram posts and acknowledge each other's significant achievements.
