Coco Gauff's mother Candi congratulates her on China Open 2024 triumph, adorably poses with daughter's champion's poster
Coco Gauff's mother, Candi recently congratulated her on winning the 2024 China Open. In a heartwarming gesture, Candi also posed with the champion's poster of the World No.4.
Gauff was seeded fourth at the WTA 1000 hard court event in Beijing and she kicked off her campaign in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round. She started strong by defeating Clara Burel 7-5, 6-3 in her opening match, and then overcame 26th seed Katie Boulter in the third round with a score of 7-5, 6-2.
The former World No.2 secured her spot in the quarterfinals after her fourth-round opponent, Naomi Osaka retired from their match in the third set due to a lower back injury, with the score at 3-6, 6-4, 0-0 ret. Gauff then went on to defeat qualifier Yuliia Starodubtseva 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, and 15th seed Paula Badosa 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.
In the final, Coco Gauff triumphed over Karolina Muchova 6-1, 6-3 in just one hour and 16 minutes to win the 2024 China Open title, her second title of the season and eighth of her career.
With this win, Gauff also became the second American to win the Beijing title, following in the footsteps of Serena Williams, who won the title twice - in 2004 by defeating Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final and then in 2013 when she defeated Jelena Jankovic in the championship match
Following her win, Coco Gauff took to social media to share a series of photos, which included pictures of herself holding the China Open trophy alongside her mother, Candi, and her team. She also expressed her gratitude to all those who had shown her love and support during the tournament.

Candi Gauff also took to social media to congratulate her daughter on her win while posing proudly in front of the tennis star's champion's poster. She also re-shared the World No.4's post on her own social media, adding the caption "always compete."

Coco Gauff on winning China Open 2024: "I was just telling myself the whole match I’m proud of myself"
Following her win over Karolina Muchova in the final of the 2024 China Open, Coco Gauff revealed that she found motivation during the game by reminding herself of the hard work she had put in during practice and how proud she was of her progress.
“I was just like, 'This match is not going to change my life.’ I knew regardless of the result today, I was proud. Honestly, I was just telling myself the whole match I’m proud of myself, how I was able to overcome and still work on things that I’ve been practicing on, too, and stick to it,” Coco Gauff said.
Looking ahead, Coco Gauff will next compete at the 2024 Wuhan Open, her debut appearance at the WTA 1000 hard court tournament in Wuhan, China. The event is set to kick off on October 7, 2024, and run until October 13, 2024.
Gauff has been seeded fourth in the tournament and will start her campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. Her opening match will be against either fellow American Ashlyn Krueger or Viktoriya Tomova.
