World No. 4 Coco Gauff will lock horns with Magda Linette in the quarterfinals of the Wuhan Open 2024 on Friday, October 11. The American emerged victorious at last week's China Open and has continued her good run of form here as well.
Gauff received a bye into the second round and secured an easy 6-1, 6-2 win over Viktoriya Tomova to begin her campaign. She was up against Marta Kostyuk in the third round and beat her 6-4, 6-1 to extend her winning streak to eight matches.
This marks Gauff's second-longest unbeaten run this year. She tallied 10 consecutive wins at the start of the season, which commenced with her title defense in Auckland and concluded in the semifinals of the Australian Open.
Gauff is gunning to become the second player to win back-to-back titles at the China Open and the Wuhan Open. Caroline Garcia remains the only player to have done so and achieved the feat back in 2017.

Gauff is currently participating in the season's final WTA 1000 tournament, the Wuhan Open. This is the first edition of the event since 2019 as it was put on hold in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The American is making her debut here as well.

Linette took down eighth seed Daria Kasatkina 6-2, 6-3 to book her place in the quarterfinals. She has now advanced this far at a WTA 1000 tournament for the first time in her career. Gauff staged a comeback to beat the Pole 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in their only prior meeting at the US Open 2021.
