Coco Gauff unveils the Coco CG1 "Fuzzy Ace" New Balance sneakers
Coco Gauff recently revealed the latest tennis ball-inspired 'Coco CG1' New Balance sneakers.
The 19-year-old was last seen competing at the Miami Open, where she partnered alongside Jessica Pegula to win the doubles title. The talented two-some became the first American pair to capture the trophy in 22 years at the WTA 1000 event.
Gauff, who signed a long-term contract extension with New Balance last year, shared pictures of the latest performance tennis shoes. The new design was inspired by the beauty of a fresh tennis ball and is called Coco CG1 'Fuzzy Ace'.
The American proved her immense potential last year by reaching her first ever final at the French Open. She's had a decent start to the new 2023 season, chalking up 15 wins from 20 matches and a title-winning run at the Auckland Open. The teenager also reached the semifinals at the Dubai Tennis Championships before bowing out to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek.
Expectations are high for the world No. 6 this season, and the marketing executives at New Balance also realize that Gauff has a bright future ahead of her. The American signed her first contract with the Boston-based sports brand at the age of 14 and has not looked back since then. Evan Zeder, New Balance's head of tennis sports marketing, stated that the relationship between New Balance and Gauff is one of a kind.
"We've grown from seeing a bright future in 2018 to working with one of the most dynamic, creative and thoughtful individuals for the long haul. Coco's drive, passion, and positivity embody our partnership and the New Balance brand. We are excited to continue to work with Coco to deliver innovative products that elevate her performance on the court, and at the same time celebrate her off-court style and influence, to inspire the next generation," Even Zeder, the marketing head of New Balance said
