Davis Cup 2023: Complete list of teams who qualified for the finals
The qualifying rounds for the 2023 Davis Cup took place over the weekend and 12 teams joined Canada, Australia, Italy and Spain in the finals that will take place later this year.
Croatia, the top-ranked team in the Nations Rankings, booked their place in the final after beating Austria 3-1. Borna Coric and Borna Gojo delivered for the Croats and made up for the absence of their star player Marin Cilic.
Coric won the first match of the tie 6-3, 7-5 aginst Dennis Novak before Gojo beat Dominic Thiem 6-3, 7-6(2). The Austrians found a glimmer of hope after they won the doubles match. However, Coric beat Thiem 7-6(3), 6-2 to seal Croatia's place in the Davis Cup Finals.
2017 champions France edged out Hungary 3-2 to reach the finals after Ugo Humbert beat Fabian Marozsan 6-3, 6-3 in the decider.
Switzerland vs Germany was one of the most highly-anticipated clashes and it did not disappoint. Marc-Andrea Huesler gave the Swiss the lead by beating Oscar Otte 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 before Alexander Zverev leveled things up with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Stan Wawrinka. The Germans took a 2-1 lead after they won the doubles fixture before Huesler stunned Zvered 6-2, 7-6(4) to level the tie at 2-2.
Stan Wawrinka took Switzerland to the Davis Cup finals after he beat Daniel Altmaier 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in the decisive clash.
Great Britain also booked their place in the finals after defeating Colombia 3-1 and their star player Cameron Norrie played a crucial role as he won both of his matches against Nicolas Barrientos and Nicolas Meija.
South Korea produced an upset as they beat Belgium 3-2 while Sweden defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1. Another upset was Finland defeating Argentina 3-1 with Emil Ruusuvuori winning both of his singles matches against Pedro Cachin and Facundo Bagnis. The Czech Republic and Chile also booked their place in the finals with wins over Portugal and Kazakhstan respectively.
United States, Serbia and Netherlands cruise to Davis Cup finals with 4-0 wins
The United States, Serbia and Netherlands registered crushing wins over Uzbekistan, Norway and Slovakia respectively to book their place in the finals.
Australian Open semifinalist Tommy Paul was in the winners' circle as he beat Khumoyun Sultanov 6-3, 7-6(8). Serbia were without Novak Djokovic but the likes of Miomir Kecmanovic and Laslo Djere delivered for them against Norway.
Tim van Rijthoven, Tallon Griekspoor and Matwe Middelkoop all starred for the Netherlands as they thrashed Slovakia 4-0.
