Denis Shapovalov's fiance Mirjam Bjorklund cheers him on as Canadian puts in the hard work in off-season training

Denis Shapovalov's fiancee Mirjam Bjorklund was recently seen cheering the Canadian on as he kicked off preparations for the 2025 season. The 25-year-old didn't enjoy a great 2024 season until his final tournament of the year where he turned things around.

However, it seems that Denis Shapovalov has left the 2024 season in the past as his fiancee Mirjam Bjorklund shared a story of the Canadian kicking off his preparations for the 2025 season. The Canadian reshared the story on his Instagram and added two biceps emojis.

The couple have been engaged for over a year after the 25-year-old went down on one knee to propose to his longtime girlfriend in July last year.

"And so it begins!" she wrote.

Shapovalov is a well-known force on the ATP Tour, having reached the upper levels of sports with his impressive tennis resume. The former World No. 10 (as per ATP's 2020 rankings) has a French Open semifinal, as well as the Australian Open, and the US Open quarterfinals under his belt.

However, over the years the Canadian's form has seen a huge dip as he has struggled to keep up with the players he once used to pose a huge threat to. His struggles with consistency were visible during the 2024 season where he had a poor 26-23 win/loss record.

His last singles tournament of the year was the Belgrade Open, where he entered the main draw after a series of scintillating performances in the qualifiers. Shapovalov scored wins over Marton Fucsovics, Nuno Borges, Christopher O'Connell, and Jiri Lehecka to reach the final. The World No. 56 (current) defeated home favorite Hamad Medjedovic 6-4, 6-4 to turn his 2024 season around and win the second title of his career.

His season ended after losing to Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff, which caused Team Canada's exit from the Davis Cup Finals.

On the other hand, Bjorklund, who is a tennis player herself, had reacted to her 'champ' winning the title in Belgrade.

After managing to turn around his 2024 season with his triumph at the Belgrade Open, Denis Shapovalov also clinched the second ATP title of his career. He won his first title in Stockholm in 2019.

The Canadian received his trophy and also a hug from the Serbian legend Novak Djokovic, who was in the audience enjoying the final between the 25-year-old and his protege Hamad Medjedovic.

Shapovalov's girlfriend Mirjam Bjorklund was over the moon for her boyfriend as she took to Instagram to express her excitement via her stories. She adorably wrote how she was 'proud' of Shapovalov and called him 'My champ'.
