Despite being pregnant, Lorenzo Musetti's girlfriend Veronica shows her support in biggest match of his career at French Open

Lorenzo Musetti is currently battling defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals of the French Open 2025. With the two duking it out for a spot in the championship round on Friday (June 6) evening, the Italian had one of his biggest supporters in the house cheering for him.

Musetti's girlfriend, Veronica Confalonieri, was spotted in the stands rooting for her partner's success. While that isn't too surprising in itself, the duo recently announced that they're expecting their second child. Given in light of her pregnancy, seeing her in the stands was a pleasant surprise.

Confalonieri was quite pleased with how the proceedings were unfolding on Court Philippe-Chatrier. Musetti won the first set of his semifinal showdown against Alcaraz. The Italian then rallied from a break down at the start of the second set to get back on serve.

Winning the set would put Musetti in the driver's seat, though one cannot count out Alcaraz even when he's two sets down. The Spaniard was down two sets to one in the semifinals and the final but overcame that deficit to emerge victorious in Paris last year.

Unfortunately, Musetti couldn't sustain his level. Despite stopping Alcaraz from serving out the second set at 6-5, the latter outclassed him in the tie-break to level the proceedings. The Italian looked a step slower in the third set and called for the physio after going down 5-0.

Musetti soon lost the set without winning a game, and after falling behind 2-0 in the fourth set, he called it quits. Despite the loss, he has plenty of reasons to look back proudly upon his results during this clay swing.

Lorenzo Musetti started the clay swing with a bang. He advanced to his maiden Masters 1000 final in Monte Carlo but came up short against Carlos Alcaraz. He continued his good run of form to reach the last four in Madrid and Rome as well.

Musetti's impressive results during the clay swing helped him crack the top 10 of the ATP rankings for the first time. He achieved a career-high ranking of No. 7 prior to the French Open. Despite the heartbreaking end to his campaign in Paris, he's set to surpass his previous peak in the rankings.

The Italian will be ranked No. 6 in next week's rankings, a new milestone for him. Given his current form, he should be able to make his top-five debut in the coming weeks.
