"Don't remind me" - Iga Swiatek 'blushes' as she fondly looks back on her handwritten letter from Taylor Swift after 'incredible' Eras Tour experience
Iga Swiatek recently reminisced about her memorable experience of receiving a handwritten letter from Taylor Swift after she attended the pop icon's Eras Tour concert. The Pole, who is a self-proclaimed Swiftie, had a hilariously endearing reaction upon being reminded of Swift's thoughtful gesture.
Currently, in action at the 2024 WTA Finals, Swiatek is still on the hunt to secure a spot in the semifinals. The Pole kicked off her title defense with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over Barbora Krejcikova. However, Coco Gauff stunned the World No. 2 in their group-stage encounter, clinching a commanding 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Amid her campaign, Iga Swiatek took the time to answer some trivia questions about herself, from recalling when she broke into the WTA top 100 to how many WTA singles titles she has won and her book recommendation from Beatriz Haddad Maia.
The Pole was also asked to name the celebrity who had congratulated her with a handwritten letter, and she was quick to reply with Taylor Swift, smiling widely as she recalled the memory.
"Oh my God! Don't remind me," she said.
When asked if she was 'blushing,' Swiatek hilariously replied in the affirmative.
Iga Swiatek previously shared a glimpse of the handwritten note on social media, as she gushed over her "incredible" experience at the Eras Tour show in Liverpool, United Kingdom, back in June.
"I'm dead. Yes, I cried many times during the show. Yes, it was incredible. You are amazing, Taylor Swift," Swiatek posted on X.
Swiatek's love for Taylor Swift and her music is well known, as she often gives shoutouts to the pop icon and has even shared her review of Swift's latest album, 'The Tortured Poets Department.'
"I was so excited and I couldn't sleep" - Iga Swiatek on attending Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert
Iga Swiatek also opened up about her "amazing" time at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert during her pre-tournament press conference at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.
The 23-year-old humorously disclosed that she had entertained the thought of attending the concert again but was advised against it by the coaching team since her excitement after the show had left her unable to sleep for days.
"I mean I’d love to, but I was in Liverpool, uh you know, to see Taylor (Swift), so, it was amazing. I actually was thinking about going here for the second time, but, my team was like, okay, because, basically after this concert, three days after I was like so excited and I couldn't sleep and everything that we decided it's better to focus on the tournament, um, but it was a great experience," Swiatek said.
As Iga Swiatek looks to seal her spot in the semifinals of the 2024 WTA Finals, she will square off against Daria Kasatkina in her final group-stage match in Riyadh. Kasatkina replaced Jessica Pegula in the lineup after the American's mid-tournament withdrawal due to injury.
