Elon Musk uses 4-word tennis reference to call US Presidential election with Donald Trump leading over Kamala Harris

Elon Musk has used a tennis reference to react to the emerging 2024 US Presidential election results. At the time of writing, Donald Trump has established a significant lead over Kamala Harris, and is well on his way to securing a second-term as President of the United States.

Trump's campaign has been heavily backed by Musk, with the latter openly claiming that the country's future would be doomed if Kamala Harris was elected as President. The 53-year-old billionaire has stood firmly by Trump's side and believes that a second-term for the 78-year-old would lead to greater freedom of speech and more border security, among other things.

As things stand in the 2024 US elections, Donald Trump appears to be in pole position to become President for a second time. The Republican candidate has already won 27 states, and is a stone's throw away from the 270 majority that he would need to return to power. Delighted at the development, Elon Musk to his self-owned platform X (formerly Twitter) and wrote:

"Game, set and match", referring to the famous tennis phrase that is said by chair umpires in the sport upon the completion of matches.

Despite Trump seemingly set for a second term in the White House, he has faced vocal opposition from several prominent names in the tennis world. Serena Williams' ex-coach Rennae Stubbs, Martina Navratilova and Andy Roddick constitute a handful of personalities in the sport who have criticized Trump.

Last year, Musk had claimed that tennis would be probably brought to ruin by pickleball.

In June 2023, an X user, a passionate tennis fan, lashed out at pickleball. The user alleged that the racket sport, which is rapidly gaining in popularity in America, is "hijacking tennis courts".

"Pickleball is the biggest blight in the history of sports. Stop hijacking tennis courts you b**tards," the user wrote.

Elon Musk took notice of the post and issued a response. The businessman and investor predicted in the years ahead, pickleball's convenience would result in tennis becoming less popular.

"It’s probably going to crush tennis. Way more convenient," Musk replied.

Despite this prediction, Musk made his way to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York earlier this year to watch the US Open men's singles final between Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

There were high hopes that Fritz would be able to break American men's Grand Slam duck going back to 2003, when Andy Roddick won the US Open. Unfortunately for Fritz, World No. 1 Sinner proved too strong, with the Italian emerging victorious with a 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 win over the American.
