Navarro faced 26th seed Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals and beat her 6-2, 7-5 to reach her maiden Major semifinal. She has already entered the top 10 of the WTA rankings thanks to her run here and has a shot to rise higher than her projected peak of No. 8 if she wins this match.
Sabalenka and Navarro have crossed paths twice before, with each player winning once. The former won their most recent encounter at this year's French Open in straight sets, while the latter won in three sets at the Indian Wells Open a few months before that.
