Emma Raducanu responds to message of support amid criticism over her performance

Former World No. 10 Emma Raducanu has responded to an encouraging message from a fan. The Brit was last seen competing in the Korea Open, where she lost to Daria Kasatkina in the quarterfinals.

Raducanu entered the Asian hardcourt swing on the back of 10 wins from 14 matches on the main tour. Many observers had high expectations from the youngster, but she has been sidelined after a foot injury sustained in Seoul.

The 21-year-old acknowledged a positive message sent by her fan amid criticism over her performance on tour. The fan highlighted how she has already achieved good things in her career and urged the critics to leave her alone.

The fan wrote,

"Can you all leave this highly talented, intelligent girl alone, unless you are going to write something nice. She has achieved so much and is young woman who can be proud of her achievements. I never normally comment but honestly have to support this girl."

Raducanu was sidelined from the women's tour for eight months due to a wrist injury last year. She returned at the 2024 ASB Classic,

Prior to the China Open, Raducanu gave an update about the injury suffered in Seoul, which forced her to retire mid-match against Daria Kasatkina. She promised her fans to return on tour as soon as possible.

"Hello, last week in Seoul I sprained some ligaments in my foot which unfortunately need some more time to heal. It means I can’t play in Beijing but I hope to be back competing as soon as I can."

Emma Raducanu was expected to play at the China Open and the Wuhan Open but has been sidelined due to injury. While the Brit is yet to announce her return, she could be included in the entry list of the Japan Open or the Ningbo Open.

Raducanu has chalked up 20 wins from 33 matches this year, including a semifinal appearance in the Nottingham Open. She also reached the fourth round of the Wimbledon championships, where she lost to Lulu Sun in a three-set bout.

The Brit will be eager to return as soon as possible and silence her critics. She was ranked outside the top 250 last year but is currently among the top 50 players in the world.
