From Coco Gauff, Madison Keys to Ben Shelton: Jessica Pegula reveals special Christmas gifts she'd have for her compatriots
With the festive season approaching, tennis players are starting to prepare for Christmas. Jessica Pegula recently spoke about the gifts she would preferably give her fellow Americans Coco Gauff, Madison Keys, and Ben Shelton.
Gauff's passion for anime is widely recognized within the tennis community. Following her remarkable win over Karolína Muchová in last year's U.S. Open semifinals, the 20-year-old shared that she planned to watch anime ahead of the final.
Nevertheless, Gauff's fondness for the genre remains unchanged, and acknowledging this, Jessica Pegula revealed that she would give her an anime-themed gift on Christmas in an interview with the Tennis Channel.
"I don't know I just think of her, like, anime. And I don't really know Anime. But maybe something Anime themed, that would be cool," she said.
Ben Shelton, who started his tennis journey at 11, initially showed little interest in the sport and was more passionate about American football. Furthermore, Pegula believes the World No. 21 would highly appreciate any gift linked to NFL team Buffalo Bills.
"I don't know maybe I'll get him like Bills (Buffalo). Something from the Bills. I don't know, I feel like he would appreciate that," she said.
Meanwhile, Pegula revealed that she would gift her fellow American and women's World No. 21, Madison Keys, something related to interior design for her new home.
"Something for her home interior, design, hobby, that's she loves to do something for her new house," she added.
Apart from Pegula, Shelton and Emma Navarro also spoke about the Christmas presents they would have for fellow players.
Jessica Pegula's pictures from the WTA Finals in Riyadh garnered a positive reaction from Coco Gauff
Jessica Pegula concluded her 2024 season at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After her campaign at the prestigious event, the 30-year-old shared the moments from her time, which received a positive response from her compatriot, Coco Gauff.
The World No. 7 shared the highlights on Instagram, featuring desert adventures, a peek into her locker room, on-court action, and glimpses from the WTA Finals gala which took place before the event.
"Forgot to post these? @wtafinalsriyadh," she captioned.
Gauff, 20, later reacted in the comments writing:
"Cuteeee"
Pegula started her campaign at the event against Gauff, but the latter was too dominant, securing a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Pegula then lost to Barbora Krejčíková 6-3, 6-3 in the round-robin’s second round and had to withdraw from the tournament due to a knee injury, missing her final match against Iga Świątek.
Gauff on the other hand, defeated the likes of Swiatek, Krejčíkova, Aryna Sabalenka, and Zheng Qinwen in the final to win the WTA Finals.
