"Get the Grinch in a hat" - Katie Boulter teases fiancé Alex de Minaur after managing to get him in Christmas spirit before anticipated clash
Katie Boulter playfully teased her fiance, Alex de Minaur after managing to get him into the Christmas spirit ahead of their highly anticipated clash at the 2025 United Cup. The couple have been in a relationship for over four years, having started dating in March 2020.
Boulter and De Minaur wrapped up their 2024 tennis season in Malaga, Spain, where they competed at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals and Davis Cup Finals, respectively. After that, the couple took time away from the tennis court which they spent with each other and their loved ones. It was during this break that they got engaged.
On December 25, Katie Boulter took to social media to share a photo of Alex de Minaur sitting in a car and wearing a Santa hat. She jokingly referred to him as the "Grinch" and claimed that she had managed to get him into the Christmas spirit.
“Managed to get the grinch in a hat," Boulter captioned her Instagram story.
The 2024 tennis season was successful for both Boulter and De Minaur. They both won two titles each - the Brit won the titles at the San Diego Open and the Rothesay Open in Nottingham, while De Minaur claimed the Mexican Open and the Libema Open titles.
Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur are currently gearing up for the 2025 season, which they will kick off at the United Cup where they will represent Great Britain and Australia, respectively.
Katie Boulter on facing Alex de Minaur at United Cup 2025: "I'm looking forward to the match"
While speaking to Sky Sports recently, Katie Boulter gave her thoughts on facing off against Alex de Minaur at the 2025 United Cup. Great Britain, Australia and Argentina are in Group F, and their matches will be held at the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney. This draw means that Boulter and De Minaur can potentially face off against each other.
Boulter said that it would be difficult to play against the Aussie but expressed that she is looking forward to the match, saying:
"I wouldn't say that I was thrilled at the idea of playing him all over again . He's a top 10 player and he knows how to play tennis so there is one side of it, there is a personal side of it as well which is difficult but also great for bragging rights. I'm looking forward to the match of course," Boulter said.
Boulter along with Billy Harris, Jan Choinski, Lily Miyazaki, Charles Broom and Olivia Nicholls will represent Great Britain at the United Cup. Meanwhile, Alex De Minaur will represent Australia alongside Olivia Gadecki, Omar Jasika, Destanee Aiava, Matthew Ebden and Ellen Perez.
The tournament is set to take place from December 27, 2024 to January 5, 2025, in Perth and Sydney.
