"Going against the champion already?"- Carlos Alcaraz fans baffled as Wimbledon highlights Jannik Sinner's success against him amid French Open battle
Fans of Carlos Alcaraz were left baffled as Wimbledon highlighted Jannik Sinner's success against the Spaniard at the tournament amid their battle in the French Open. They wondered why Wimbledon was going against its reigning champion.
The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Wimbledon posted a video that showed a rally between the two players stating that "anything that Carlos (Alcaraz) can do, Jannik can do better" on June 7. Wimbledon posted the video stating that it was reliving the first Grand Slam meeting between the two players. Jannik Sinner beat Carlos Alcaraz in four sets in the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2022.
This prompted angry reactions from Alcaraz fans who said that it is crazy that Wimbledon was doing this and it was perhaps the first time a tournament was going against its own champion.
"What?? Going against the reigning Wimbledon champion already? Really? This is the first time I’ve seen a tournament org taking sides," a fan posted on X.
Some fans called it disrespectful and asked Wimbledon to delete the tweet.
"Wtf Wimbledon??? This so disrespectful, DELETE," a fan said.

"Literally why are they dissing their defending champion," a fan said.
"Lol thats a crazy tweet from an official slam account which Carlos have won," another fan said.
