“Gotta have my sweet treat"- Coco Gauff agrees with Gabby Thomas' take on athletes' diets; makes surprising revelation about her mid-tournament habits

Coco Gauff recently commented on American sprinter Gabby Thomas' take on the eating habits of athletes. The American tennis player won her first WTA title at 20 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Gauff concluded her 2024 season with an incredible win in the WTA finals, where she trounced Jessica Pegula, Iga Swiatek, Barbora Krejčíková, Aryna Sabalenka, and Qinwen Zheng to lift the trophy. She defeated Sabalenka to advance to the finals with a score of 7-6(4), 6-3, and had a showdown with Zheng on November 9, eventually overcoming her with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(2).

Days after this win, Gauff revealed her mid-tournament habits under the video of Gabby Thomas talking about athletes' eating habits. The sprinter shared a video on TikTok, where she was seen addressing the right process that fans have regarding athletes' eating patterns.

"If I post a picture of me with an ice cream cone or something, all the comments are like, Gabby, you have to run, put that down and I'm like, I mean, I can eat it but I'm still ok," Thomas said.

She continued:

"Like, yes, I get it. Like athletes have to eat clean and I do eat clean and I do get my nutrients and I take a multivitamin and all the things. But your favorite runner loves a sweet treat. I don't know any athlete who doesn't love a sweet treat. I don't know any athlete who doesn't have a cheat meal. And for me, like my cheat meals are multiple times a week."

In the comment section, Coco Gauff agreed to Thomas' thoughts on the diet of athletes and revealed her mid-tournament habit by commenting:

"Me eating a few bites of dessert every day during tournaments. Gotta have my sweet treat."

Gabby Thomas praised Coco Gauff for her WTA Finals victory

After nabbing the win at the WTA Finals, Coco Gauff took to X to express her feelings about the win. She exuded gratitude for her supporters and also spoke about her haters.

"I know I tend to focus on "doubters/haters,” but this one is really for all of my supporters," Gauff wrote. "Ya’ll held it down for me win or lose! I thank you for that. I see you and I appreciate you. And I know some of you are a little bit petty like me, so it does feel nice to silence them for a bit."
