Hamburg European Open 2024: Men's singles draw, schedule, players, prize money, and more 

The Hamburg European Open 2024 will commence on July 15. Alexander Zverev won the 2023 edition of the ATp 500 tournament and is seeded first this year.

The German has been in brilliant form so far this season and will be a heavy favorite to win his second successive title in Hamburg. However, the likes of Holger Rune, Sebastian Baez and Francisco Cerundolo are capable of contending for the title on their day.


What is the Hamburg European Open?

The Hamburg European Open is a clay-court event that takes place in Hamburg. It used to be a part of the ATP Masters but has become an ATP 500 event since 2009.

The inaugural edition of the tournament took place in 1892 while the 1968 edition was its first in the Open Era. Roger Federer has won the Hamburg European Open more than anyone in the Open Era, with four titles to his name. Other notable champions include Rafael Nadal, Ivan Lendl and Stefan Edberg.

Draw and Players

Defending champion Alexander Zverev is the top seed in Hamburg and he will face a qualifier in the first round. The German will next take on either Facundo Diaz Acosta or Hugo Gaston if he comes out on top.

Holger Rune is the second seed at the ATP 500 event and he will face Hungary's Fabian Marozsan in the first round. Argentines Sebastian Baez and Francisco Cerundolo are the third and fourth seeds, respectively, and they will both face Germans in the opening round. While Baez will take on Dominik Koepfer, Cerundolo will lock horns with Henri Squire.

Fifth seed Arthur Fils and sixth seed Matteo Arnaldi will both be up against Spaniards in the first round, with the Frenchman facing Jaume Munar while the Italian will square off against Pedro Martinez. Seventh seed Luciano Darderi will take on Lorenzo Sonego while eighth seed Zhang Zhizhen will face Thiago Seyboth Wild.


Schedule

The main draw of the Hamburg European Open will commence on Monday, July 15. The quarterfinals will take place on July 19 while the semifinals are set to be played on July 20. The finals are scheduled for Sunday, July 21.
