"Have to talk with them" - Carlos Alcaraz willing to go against parents' wishes as he reveals new tattoo plan after 2nd Wimbledon triumph

Carlos Alcaraz is planning yet another tattoo following his triumph at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The Spaniard, however, hilariously hinted that his parents may not be on board with the new ink.

Alcaraz staged a remarkable campaign at SW19 this season, replicating last year’s result by beating seven-time champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets this time. The Spaniard seemed unfazed by the challenge that lay in front of him throughout the 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) victory.

When asked whether he plans to celebrate his second Wimbledon title with a tattoo, as has been the tradition, Carlos Alcaraz said he’d acquired his parents’ permission only for his maiden Major wins.

"I told my parents, just to calm them, that it’s just the first one in every Major," the four-time Grand Slam champion said during his Tennis Channel appearance.

Alcaraz revealed his first two tattoos in 2022, after finishing the season as the World No. 1 for the first time as the youngest man to do so. The Spaniard, who won his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open that year, inked his victory date “11.09.22” above his left elbow. He also added the letters “CCC,” representing his grandfather’s motto, “cabeza corazon, cojones” (head, heart, b*lls), on his left forearm.

Following last year’s Wimbledon glory, he tattooed a strawberry near his right ankle with the championship date, “16.07.23.” Carlos Alcaraz, however, feels his latest triumph at the grasscourt Slam is just as significant. He hilariously hinted that his parents wouldn’t be too pleased with his decision to get another tattoo, but he is willing to have a discussion.

"But I think this is a really big moment. Probably I’m gonna put the date of this one next to the last year’s. I have to discuss with them," the 21-year-old said.

After lifting his first French Open trophy last month, Alcaraz revealed he would have the Eiffel Tower tattooed on his left ankle, which, according to him, his parents are fine with.

"The tour Eiffel, I didn’t do it yet, but I will, for sure. And this one, I have to talk with them (his parents)," he hilariously added.
"A little one; a little one," he joked. "Just hide (it)."

Before his Wimbledon 2024 campaign, Carlos Alcaraz opened up about his peripatetic lifestyle. He also shed light on living with his parents and his three brothers, Alvaro, Sergio, and Jaime, during the off days.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, the Spaniard said his family doesn’t see him as a “big tennis star,” despite his success.

"I live with my mum and dad, my older brother and two younger brothers. To them I am not a big tennis star, just a normal guy," he said.

Alcaraz often travels around the world with his father, Carlos, and his older brother, Alvaro. He admitted that he longs to be with his mother and his two younger siblings after prolonged trips without them.

"One of the things about tennis is that you travel a lot and my dad and older brother come with me. My older brother is my hitting partner. But Mum can’t come because she is looking after the two little ones. So getting home is great because I miss them. The longer you are away, the more you realise how much you need them," he added.

On the tennis front, Carlos Alcaraz is scheduled to make his Olympic debut in Paris this month (July 27–August 4). The four-time Grand Slam champion will compete in singles and men’s doubles, partnering 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal.
