"Hopefully try and get a breakthrough win" - Yuki Bhambri looking for revenge in US Open 2024 R2

India's Yuki Bhambri scored his first main-draw doubles win at the US Open on Wednesday, August 28. The 32-year-old, along with his partner Albano Olivetti of France, beat American wildcards Ryan Seggerman and Patrik Trhac 6-3, 6-4 in the first round at Flushing Meadows.

The win sets up a second-round clash against 15th seeds Austin Krajicek of the USA and Jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands, both of whom have won Grand Slam men's doubles titles in the past.

Besides a shot at reaching the third round, Bhambri will also be looking for revenge when the match begins on Court 7 on Friday, August 30. The Indian has lost twice this year to Krajicek (in the Dubai Open semi-finals and Miami Masters first round) and once to Rojer (in the Brisbane semi-finals).

"We play a tough one next against Krajicek and Rojer. I've lost to them both this year at different times, so hopefully, we can turn things around this time at the US Open," Yuki Bhambri told Sportskeeda from New York after his first-round win.
"Like I said, all matches are tough and we would definitely like to win another one here and push through and hopefully try and get a breakthrough win," he added.

Ranked a career-high No. 48 in the world currently, Yuki Bhambri also reflected on his team's 6-3, 6-4 win over Ryan Seggerman and Patrik Trhac in the first round. Speaking to Sportskeeda, Bhambri said he and his partner Albano Olivetti were in control for most of the match.

"It was my first win in doubles in the main draw here at the US Open, so obviously happy about that," the Indian said. "I think we played a good match and were in control throughout. I don't think we really had too much trouble at the end and we served and returned well today."
