How much did Mukund Sasikumar, Ramkumar Ramanathan, and other Indians earn in men’s singles at Seoul Open Challenger 2024?

India’s Mukund Sasikumar earned $655 at the Seoul Open Challenger 2024. Sasikumar failed to advance to the main draw after losing in the second round of the qualifiers. Ramkumar Ramanathan, the other Indian in men’s singles, won $1,310 after crashing out in the Round of 32 of the ongoing tournament.

The winner of the competition will earn $18,230 while the runner-up will get $10,730. The semifinalists and quarterfinalists will earn $6,340 and $3,690, respectively.

Ramkumar Ramanathan crashed out after losing in straight sets to Japan’s Kaito Uesugi on October 29. It took the Japanese star an hour and 12 minutes to beat Ramanathan 6-4, 6-4 on Centre Court.

Ramanathan converted the only break point chance he got but dropped his serve three times, which led to his defeat. He was also tentative with his first serves, making as many as seven double faults and winning only 50 percent (14 out of 28) of those points.

Mukund Sasikumar falls short in the Seoul Open 2024

Mukund Sasikumar made an impressive start to his campaign. In the first round of the qualifiers, he defeated Australia’s Rubin Statham after rallying back from a set down. Sasikumar took an hour and 57 minutes to win the match 6-7(3), 6-3, 6-4.

However, he failed to carry the momentum in the second round as Japan’s Kaichi Uchida defeated him 5-7, 7-6(4), 3-6. Against Statham, Sasikumar managed to turn around his fortunes after losing the first set, but he could not replicate something similar against Uchida.

Sasikumar broke Uchida’s serve once but dropped his own serve three times. The Indian player served well, dishing out 15 aces and winning 73 percent of first-serve points. But a win percentage of just 38 (13 out of 34) on his second serve did not allow him to bounce back.
