How much prize money did Rohan Bopanna get after his Round of 16 exit at the 2024 Shanghai Masters?
Rohan Bopanna and Ivan Dodig failed to make their way through to the quarterfinals of the men’s doubles in the Shanghai Masters. The Indo-Croatian pair fought hard but lost to Nikola Mektic and Wesley Koolhof in the Round of 16 match on Tuesday, October 10. It took Mektic and Koolhof an hour and 45 minutes to beat Bopanna and Dodig 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 12-14 at Grandstand 2.
Bopanna will get $34,100 US dollars as prize money for the team crashing out in the pre-quarters. Had they beaten Mektic and Koolhof, they would have assured themselves a prize money of at least $63,600. The winners and runners-up will get prize money of $447,300 and $236,800 respectively. $127,100 is the prize money for the semi-finalists.

Bopanna and Dodig strained every sinew to come up trumps in their Round of 16 clash but did not have the last laugh. The first set was a closely fought affair and went right down to the tie-breaker. In the tie-break, it was 5-5 before Mektic and Koolhof came up trumps.
However, Bopanna and Dodig were not willing to give up the ghost and rather came out firing, winning the second set 6-2. The duo earned an early break to go 1-0 up after which they extended their lead to 5-2 in the set with another break of serve.
Bopanna and Dodig carried on from there they left in the second set, taking a 3-0 lead in the third set tie-breaker. But Mektic and Koolhof stormed back to make it 3-3. At 12-12, the final set could have gone either way, but Bopanna and Dodig could not go past the finish line.
