Sumit Nagal goes down fighting in Paris Masters 2024
Sumit Nagal had his chances against O’Connell, but could not grab them with both hands. Nagal converted two break-point chances out of five in the opening set, which should have been enough for him to take the set. But then he dropped his serve three times, leading to his downfall.
Nagal was tentative with his second serves, winning 46 percent of points from them and making two double faults. O’Connell hit 21 unforced errors, but they did not cost him the set.
The second set was much closer compared to the first. Both players got two chances each to break each other’s serve, but they failed to convert them. Nagal had a chance to redeem himself after forcing a tie-breaker.
In the tie-break, at 3-3, Nagal looked good, but from there on, he lost the plot completely. O’Connell won four points to pull the curtains down on the match.
