"I'd have liked to be the director" - Filmmaking-enthusiast Stefanos Tsitsipas 'privileged' to showcase his life through Netflix series 'Break Point'

Stefanos Tsitsipas is one of several tennis stars being followed around by Netflix's film crew for their 'Break Point' docuseries, and the Greek reckons it is a great idea. While Tsitsipas would have loved to have been the director of the show himself, being an actor didn't sound too bad for the World No. 3 either.

Speaking to World Tennis Magazine ahead of the upcoming Monte-Carlo Masters, the 24-year-old touched on the subject of the 'Break Point' series, remarking that he was happy to be part of one of the "most exciting" ventures in world tennis at the moment.

"I have mixed emotions regarding this. I always wanted to have something like this in tennis and would have probably liked to have been the director of it!" Tsitsipas said. However, it’s exciting to be an ‘actor’ in one of the most exciting things happening in tennis in terms of the exposure and hopefully bringing new fans and people to the sport."

Stefanos Tsitsipas further stated that he was "privileged" to be able to showcase his life on such a huge platform, hoping that the end product would be a "great story" for his fans at the end of the day.

As a filmmaking-enthusiast himself, the two-time Grand Slam finalist pointed out that it was the "beauty" of such shows, as it gave everyone the opportunity to tell stories that haven't been told before.

"I feel privileged that I am able to showcase my life and tell my story on such a platform. It has been a very intense year with lots of tennis. There have been plenty of ups and downs, good and bad moments so far. I really hope that the end product is a great story, exciting and show some fascinating insights into our sport," Stefanos Tsitsipas said.
"The beauty and power of filmmaking is that it provides opportunities to tell stories that have not been told before. This is one of the things that I love about filmmaking," he added.

Stefanos Tsitsipas further spoke about his love of filmmaking during the interview, opining that it represented him very well as it allowed him to capture the "highlights" of his life.

"Filmmaking is something that I will take even more seriously once my playing career is over. I have always shown a lot of interest in it. I have always been willing to learn and get better at it. Filmmaking represents me very well," Stefanos Tsitsipas said.
"It represents my ideas about life and allows me to capture the highlights that life has to offer. I feel like an author when I have the camera in my hand. It is a piece of art that I can entirely express myself through in any shape or form whenever I want," he added.
