"I doubt he dusts them" - Iga Swiatek reveals her French Open 2024 trophy will join collection in father Tomasz's house, jokes about its upkeep

Iga Swiatek has disclosed that her father Tomasz keeps all of her trophies and will add her 2024 French Open trophy to the collection in his house. The Pole also joked about him handling the upkeep of her growing collection.

Swiatek added several new trophies to the collection in her father's house following her outstanding run during the claycourt season. After winning back-to-back WTA 1000 titles in Madrid and Rome, the World No. 1 clinched her fifth Grand Slam crown at the French Open. Overjoyed after her triumph, the Pole rushed to the stands and embraced her father and team in a heartwarming display.

Speaking to the Polish media after her victory, Iga Swiatek opened up about her familiarity with Roland Garros, having clinched her fourth title at the claycourt Major. She expressed delight at knowing the way to her family and team after winning the title, describing it as a comfortable environment.

"Of course. This helps because when I come to a tournament, I immediately know where my favorite places are, I know where to go, where to spend time before the match, so that I can be most comfortable and concentrate," she said (via Przeglad Sportowy).
"And after winning, it's really nice to know the way to your team at a given facility. Although when you don't know it, it's also nice because it means you win a new tournament, and that's also very exciting," she added.

When asked where her latest French Open trophy will be housed and who is responsible for keeping it dust-free, the World No. 1 disclosed that all her trophies reside in her father's house but joked that he likely wasn't maintaining their upkeep in his free time.

"This is a question for my dad, the cups are in his house, but I doubt he dusts them in his free time," Iga Swiatek said.

Although Iga Swiatek enjoyed her father Tomasz's support at the French Open, he wasn't present for her triumphs in Madrid and Rome. Despite his absence, the World No. 1 celebrated her Italian Open triumph with her father and sister, catching up with them on a video call.

"(I FaceTimed) my dad and my sister. So I did the same after Madrid. So, I am in a bubble and during the tournaments, I am not talking to anybody, very honestly. So, after the tournament I always catch up," Iga Swiatek said on the Tennis Channel.

The Pole also called them the "most important" people in her life and expressed her gratitude to her father, acknowledging his indispensable contributions to her success.

"For sure, they are the most important people in my life, so I wanted to call and I wouldn't be here without my dad, so I'm grateful and I wanted to call them," she added.

Iga Swiatek had planned to commence her grasscourt season at the ecotrans Ladies Open in Berlin. However, she chose to withdraw from the WTA 500 event, citing "physical and mental fatigue" from her "intense" claycourt swing.
