"I got fooled" - Leylah Fernandez in stitches after being made to taste smoothies, oblivious to prank

Leylah Fernandez recently indulged in a fun game organized by the company, Avocados From Mexico. However, the Canadian was unaware that she was being pranked. She guessed the flavors of three masked smoothies placed in front of her that turned out to be the same.

Fernandez continues her collaboration with the brand which began last year. Through their partnership, she advocates a healthy lifestyle and wellness routine.

The World No. 33 shared a clip of herself playing the game on Instagram. It began with Fernandez tasting the first smoothie and guessing it to be a mix of kale, spinach, vanilla, and avocados. She could be seen tasting the second and third smoothies, guessing a variety of ingredients, including banana, pineapple, and strawberries.

"I got fooled. Watch until the end. My turn to get fooled - the team from @avocadosfrommexico.ca really got me this time!!! BUT they have also converted me to avocado smoothies. If you haven’t tried, you should. They’re awesome and loaded with healthy fats which are so good for you whether you’re an athlete or not!" Fernandez wrote on Instagram.

When the person behind the camera finally revealed that they were the same, Fernandez broke into laughter.

"Come on! They all tasted the same. I just didn't know. I felt bad if I say no it's the same," Fernandez laughed.

The ingredients were finally revealed as spinach, honey, soy milk, and the company's avocados.

Leylah Fernandez made a third-round exit at the 2024 French Open. It was a step further from her last year's performance at the claycourt Major, where she made a second-round exit.

Fernandez began with a strong straight-set victory over Jessika Ponchet. She gave little room to her opponent, winning 6-2, 6-0.

The 21-year-old next encountered Xiyu Wang in the second round. In a see-saw first set, both players broke each other once before Fernandez broke again to take the set. She broke again in the second set and maintained her lead to seal a 6-3, 6-4 win.

Fernandez's toughest challenge came in the form of eighth seed Ons Jabeur. She went toe-to-toe with the Tunisian before losing the opening set. Jabeur showed her mettle by saving a set point at 5-4 in the second set and setting up a tie-break.

Jabeur eventually won 6-4, 7-6(5), bringing a close to the Canadian southpaw's 2024 French Open campaign.
