"I just feel sick... It's truly unpleasant" - Andy Murray's wife Kim Sears reveals why she finds it "unbearable" to watch the Brit compete

Andy Murray's wife, Kim Sears, has opened up about her struggles to watch the Brit compete. Although Sears expressed her admiration for Murray's tenacity, she admitted that this same quality made his matches "unbearable" for his loved ones.

Murray played the final tournament of his illustrious career at the 2024 Paris Olympics, teaming up with Dan Evans for a shot at the men's doubles gold after pulling out of the singles event. Although the duo put together an impressive campaign, they fell short against the American duo of Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals, marking the end of the former World No. 1's storied career.

To commemorate his retirement from professional tennis, the LTA shared a touching video featuring messages from Andy Murray's family and friends. Kim Sears also joined in to pay tribute to her husband, disclosing that she found it "unbelievably stressful" to watch the Brit compete.

"I really struggle now to watch Andy play. I think probably as being a mum and having four other little people to worry about, I find it unbelievably stressful. I've never seen known anyone rise to a challenge like he does," Andy Murray's wife said (at 8:40).

Sears confessed that although the three-time Grand Slam champion thrived under pressure and produced thrilling encounters, his tendency to make matches "difficult to sit through" created a "truly unpleasant" experience for her.

"I think he is at home when his back's against the wall and he's having to scrap for things. And I think that's obviously what's made him great. I mean, I just feel sick when he plays to be honest, it's a truly unpleasant feeling," she said.
"And also he just does his best to make matches difficult to sit through, which is probably for the general public and impartial spectators maybe quite thrilling and addictive but for those closest to him, it's just unbearable," she added.

During his emotional farewell ceremony at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, Andy Murray reminisced about his first meeting with his wife Kim Sears, recalling that it took place at the 2005 US Open when they were both 18.

The three-time Grand Slam champion fondly revisited the first time Sears watched him compete live at the New York Major, humorously admitting that he realized she was a "keeper" when she still liked him even after witnessing him throw up on his opponent's racket bag during the match.

"The first match she came to watch me live was at the US Open. I actually vomited twice in that match. Once right in front of where she was sitting. I then stood up and vomited on my opponent’s racquet bag and she still seemed to like me so I knew she was a keeper after that," Andy Murray said.

Andy Murray then expressed his gratitude for his wife's "amazing support" over the years and shared that he was "looking forward to the rest of their lives" together.
