"I'm like, why can't I think like this kid all the time?" - Coco Gauff showers sibling love on brothers Cody and Cameron

Coco Gauff defeated Czech player Linda Noskova to seal her spot in the Round of 16 at the 2023 Indian Wells.

The American hit seven aces against her opponent's two. She registered an 88% win off her first serve and won 6-3, 6-4.

In a post-match press conference, the 19-year-old spoke about learning from her younger siblings. Gauff believes that one can learn more from children than adults as they express themselves freely. She gave an example of her brother Cody and his "confident but low-key persona" that she admired.

"I think honestly you learn almost more from kids that you do from adults at times, because they are so, I guess, unbiased and carefree in the world," she said. "Especially my brother Codey, he's 15. He has this really confident but low-key persona about him. That's something that I really try to emulate on the court."

The World no. 6, who spoke about the closeness she enjoys with her siblings, also mentioned her brother, Cameron. She mentioned that his positive attitude was something that she believes she can imbibe from him.

"Anyone who knows my youngest brother, Cameron, they call him the happy kid in the light, because he really wakes up every day with a positive attitude," she said.
"Even certain things, just comments, he will say something, and then he'll just counteract it with a positive comment. I'm like, Why can't I think like this kid all the time?" she added.

The American had a straight-sets victory over Linda Noskova in the previous round. Peterson, on the other hand, lost the first set to her opponent Swiss Jil Teichmann but eventually turned the match in her favor, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

While the two players are yet to meet on the court on the WTA circuit, they played against each other once on the ITF circuit four years ago. In the same press conference, Coco Gauff looked back on their encounter and recalled that she had lost the match.

"I lost to her, I do remember that. I remember when I played her, like she whooped me. That was the first time I played, I guess. She was playing ITFs but she was also on tour, and she gave me a real old-school whooping. Hopefully it's a little bit different this time around," she said.
