"I'm living for this" - Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian fired up as LV Aces star Kelsey Plum and Spike Lee trash talk during WNBA playoff game
Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, recently reacted to the heated trash talk between Spike Lee and Kelsey Plum in the WNBA match between the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces. The Reddit founder recently launched his track meet, Athlos NYC, which was held on September 26 at the Icahn stadium.
Days after successfully executing his meet, Alexis Ohanian shared his reaction to the heated conversation between Lee and Plum during the match between New York Liberty and Las Vegas, where the latter was bested 87-77. At one point in this match, Plum had a heated exchange with Lee, who sat courtside in a Sabrina Ionescu jersey.
Ohanian shared a video of this exchange on his X (formerly Twitter) account and wrote,
"I'm living for this content."
Ohanian's Athlos meet in New York was a women-only track meet and featured six races, the 200m, 100m, 100m hurdles, 400m, 800m, and 1500m. It also showcased neck-to-neck competition between athletes like Gabby Thomas and Brittany Brown in the 200m and one between Masai Russell and Jasmine Camacho-Quinn in the 100m hurdles. Along with this, it also had Megan Thee Stallion performing at the end of the event.
When Alexis Ohanian opened up about his initial disinterest in women's sports
Alexis Ohanian once opened up about his initial disinterest in women's sports, including tennis, until he spent time with Serena Williams. In a conversation with Citius Mag, the Reddit founder said that in 2019, he was not a fan of women's sports. He said,
"I was not at all a women's sports fan in 2019. I wasn't. I certainly enjoyed tennis. I loved cheering on my wife. I didn't even like, didn't even like tennis until I started dating."
He further said that after dating Williams, he realized the importance of women's sports in a very short time.
"I came around real quick, but what was so compelling was women's tennis was so exhilarating, so exciting, not just because I'm married to the GOAT, but because it was actually just an amazing sport. You don't think twice. Of course, women's tennis is just as popular in America as men's."
Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams started dating in 2015 and got engaged in 2016. The couple got married in November 2017 at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans.
