"I'm not a musical girly" - Coco Gauff gives her verdict on Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's 'Wicked' movie

Coco Gauff has shared her review of the blockbuster movie 'Wicked,' starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The American took a break from her grueling pre-season preparations to enjoy the spectacle of the musical fantasy film.

After unwinding with a trip to Los Angeles for the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, Gauff began gearing up for the upcoming 2025 season. The American shed light on her workout struggles, humorously posting a picture of a car parked tightly against a wall and likening it to how close she felt to giving up.

However, the 20-year-old emphasized that she wasn't a quitter, expressing her determination to push through the challenges and continue her hard work.

"How close I am to quitting in the middle of every workout so far this preseason 😭 but quitting ain’t cute so we finish 🫡," Gauff posted on X.

The World No. 3 recently had a chance to take a break from her demanding preparations and watch the critically acclaimed movie 'Wicked,' featuring a star-studded cast of Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, and Bowen Yang, among others.

Although Gauff admitted that while she wasn't typically a fan of musicals, she was thoroughly impressed by the movie, giving it a perfect 10 out of 10 rating.

"I'm not a musical girly but this was really good!!! 10!!," Gauff posted on her Instagram story.

Earlier this year, Coco Gauff also enjoyed the tennis-centric movie 'Challengers,' starring Zendaya, Josh O'Connor, and Mike Faist.

"Challengers was good," Gauff posted on X.

The American disclosed that she related to Zendaya's character, Tashi Duncan, regarding her competitive on-court mentality and insistence on not wanting to "date a scrub on tour."

Coco Gauff has previously spoken about using movies as a method to unwind during tournaments. Speaking to the press at the 2024 Australian Open, the 20-year-old disclosed that her perspective changed after winning her maiden Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open, as she realized that she didn't need to be hyper-focused for two weeks to win.

"Before, in tournaments I would just kind of stay in my room and feel like I had to be in ultra-focus mode for two weeks for the whole Slam. And I thought that's what you needed to do to win a Slam. And then I realised you don’t," Coco Gauff said.

The World No. 3 explained that she adopted a "more fun" approach, allowing herself to relax with enjoyable activities like watching movies, going mini-golfing, taking part in escape rooms, and bowling.

"When I'm at home, there's never two weeks I'm practising where I'm not doing something with my friends in between. So it's like, 'Why would I do that in a tournament?’ So, yeah, going mini-golfing, escape rooms, movies, all of that, bowling," she said.
"Mentally I think I've just changed the way I approach the game. Coming to it with a more fun approach, more so than a pressure type of thing," she added.

Coco Gauff recently also revealed her taste in music through her Apple Music Replay for 2024, with Frank Ocean, Beyonce, and Tyler, the Creator featuring on her list of most-played albums and artists.
