"I've seen Roger Federer behind the scenes, he's as consistent as he is when in the public view" - Andy Roddick

Roger Federer's upcoming documentary, 'Federer: Twelve Final Days', has dominated headlines on social media. Like many who have voiced their opinion on the film, Andy Roddick also seemed elated while talking about the Asif Kapadia directorial.

Federer played the final match of his career at the Laver Cup in 2022. He was away from the sport due to an injury following a quarterfinal loss against Hubert Hurkacz at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. After going through knee surgery, the Swiss announced that the Laver Cup would be his final tournament.

The likes of Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, and Novak Djokovic participated in the tournament at the O2 arena to bid farewell to Federer. The 20-time Grand Slam champion teamed up with Nadal in a doubles match but unfortunately lost to Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. The upcoming documentary is based on those final days of Roger Federer's career.

In a recent interview with the Tennis Channel, former US Open champion Andy Roddick was questioned about whether he had seen the latest trailer for the documentary. Roddick admitted that he had not yet watched it but conveyed his anticipation for doing so. He was quoted as saying:

"I haven't. I have watched some clips and I have seen that this was coming. I am excited to watch it. You know, I have seen Roger behind the scenes and he is as consistent as he is when he is in the public view right. And that's one of my favorite things about him is the respect level."

Roddick further added that he was excited to see Roger Federer "share his moment" in the documentary.

"He didn't change. You know when he was in the locker room vs when he left. So I am excited to see him share his moment and all that kind of goes into it, in this documentary I can't wait to watch it."

Roger Federer claimed that the upcoming documentary will also appeal to those who are not avid tennis enthusiasts. 'Federer: Twelve Final Days' will showcase the last twelve days of the Swiss legend's storied career.

Federer was quoted as saying (via cityam.com):

“I am happy to be partnering with Prime Video because of their vast global reach and significant presence in the film industry. This ensures that the story of my final days in tennis will resonate with both tennis enthusiasts and broader audiences worldwide.”

'Federer: Twelve Final Days' is set to release on June 20, 2024 on Amazon Prime.
