"I want to have a broader, bigger impact than just tennis" - Stefanos Tsitsipas opens up about life outside tennis, interest in filmmaking and music
Stefanos Tsitsipas wants to be remembered for more than just being a tennis player, even though he is a very one without a doubt. The current world No. 3 has opened up about life outside tennis and the kind of impact he wants to create off the court, revealing his adventurous spirit in the process.
Tsitsipas also spoke about his keen interest in filmmaking and music, both hobbies that he has already actively taken up.
On the tennis front, Tsitsipas enjoyed a stellar Australian Open campaign last month, reaching his second Grand Slam final. He recently lost in the Round of 16 of the ABN Amro Open in Rotterdam, before withdrawing from the Mexican Open due to a shoulder injury.
Expressing his views on life in a recent video shared by the ATP, Tsitsipas said that he has 'fear of missing out' and thus wants to make the most out of his life experiences.
"I don't want to waste a single day of my life being stagnant or staying still and not elevating myself through experiences," Stefanos Tsitsipas revealed. "I have a fear of missing out and I don't want people to know me only for my tennis."
For the Greek star, success involves being able to create a bigger impact on the world.
"Life is about adventures, life is about creating beautiful memories. I want to have a broader, bigger impact than just tennis," he added.
The 24-year-old has expressed a desire to venture into filmmaking in the future and has already released a music album of his own. Tsitsipas highlighted filmmaking and music among his biggest interests outside of tennis and said that music allowed him to convey something different.
"I have explored filmmaking part of what I'm capable of and what stories I want to tell, and music allowed me to express something else," Tsitsipas continued.
The Greek player, who is a former French Open finalist as well, further stressed the importance of getting outside one's comfort zone.
"I would like to give people the ability to dream and not be afraid and the only way you can get to this place is by seeking discomfort and letting yourself free," he expressed.
Stefanos Tsitsipas vows to come back 'stronger than ever' from injury, expected to be fit in time for Indian Wells and Miami
Stefanos Tsitsipas recently reacted to missing out on competing at the Mexican Open in Acapulco next week owing to a shoulder injury that he sustained after the Australian Open.
The Greek player vowed to quickly recover from the injury and come back stronger than ever, without revealing more details about his injury or setting a comeback date. However, he is expected to be fit in time for the Indian Wells Masters early next month.
"Although this setback is disappointing, I am choosing to focus on the positives," Stefanos Tsitsipas wrote in a statement on his Facebook page.
"I will use this time to rest, recover, and come back stronger than ever. I will continue to work hard and strive towards my goals."
Having lost in the Round of 32 at Indian Wells and Round of 16 at the Miami Open last season, Tsitsipas has a strong chance of earning a decent number of ranking points in both tournaments this year as he chases world No. 1 Novak Djokovic and second-ranked Carlos Alcaraz.
